COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's attorney general has announced an agreement with a western Ohio bingo club to settle allegations of illegal bingo and other gambling activity.
The agreement with the Union Club Inc. and the Union Club of Springfield replaces the board and temporarily suspends bingo activity later this month.
Attorney General Mike DeWine said Wednesday it appeared the board's failures were unintentional but state law must be followed.
An investigation by DeWine's office determined that the Union Club was paying its bingo workers and that electronic slot machines were in the club's facility.
The investigation also found that the board did not keep minutes involving large expenditures, wasn't following its by-laws, refused to share financial information with some members, paid employees with cash and refused to file employees' tax forms.
