The Salvation Army office and thrift store in Summersville was destroyed by fire on Friday morning. The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
There have been a number of arsons in the Summersville area in the past year or so, according to fire officials. The fire at the Salvation Army office on Broad Street was reported at about 2 a.m. Friday.
An effort is under way by city officials to help the Salvation Army find another location for its operations, including the thrift shop.
The Beckley Salvation Army office is taking calls from anyone who would like to offer help or donations. Interested parties should call 304-253-9541.
