Logan County resident Major Richard Ojeda has been invited to attend the State of the Union Address Tuesday night. Ojeda said he received a call from West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin's staff Monday.

Major Ojeda left for Washington D.C. Tuesday morning.

Ojeda is well known in Logan County for helping to start a group called LEAD. Volunteers with the group work actively to improve the quality of life in Logan County.

Ojeda is a Major in the United States Army, serving recently as a Security Forces Assistance Team Chief in Afghanistan.

During his time in Afghanistan, Ojeda received shoes, clothing and school supplies from churches and school groups in Logan County. Ojeda then stopped in villages to pass those items around.

Major Ojeda said he is thankful to be recognized by Senator Manchin with an invitation to Tuesday's State of the Union Address.
