A Huntington man was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime and possession with intent to distribute heroin, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.

Gregory Donearl Easterling, 38 of Huntington, previously pleaded guilty in September 2012.

Authorities searched Easterling's house in Huntington in December 2011.

During the search, authorities said they found heroin, oxycodone pills, three guns, and digital scales.

Easterling was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison.

This case was also brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods.  Project Safe Neighborhoods is a nationwide commitment to reduce gun crime in the United States by networking existing local programs targeting gun crime, the release said.
