It's the chance to see a Motown legend performing live. Smokey Robinson will be on stage in Huntington 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center.
Robinson founded Berry Gordy's first vocal group, The Miracles, while still in high school and "Shop Around" became Motown's first number one hit. Robinson wrote a number of hits for the Miracles including "You've Really Got a Hold on Me," "Ooo Baby Baby," "The Tracks of My Tears," "Going to a Go-Go," "More Love" and a number of others.
Robinson eventually became VP of Motown Records serving as in-house producer, talent scout and songwriter. He wrote and produced hits for other Motown greats including: "The Way You Do the Things You Do," "My Girl," "Get Ready" and "My Guy."
He has received the Grammy Living Legend Award, NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award, Honorary Doctorate from Howard University, the National Medal of Arts Award and the Kennedy Center Honors. He has also been inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
