Police in Ashland, Kentucky are warning residents about a string of recent thefts.
Officers said they've been dealing with several cases of theft from porches, sheds and carports. They report bicycles, toys and tools have been taken from residential parts of Ashland.
In the case of a man who had some tools stolen, he said he thinks he knows why the thieves are targeting homes. "It goes along with... times today... kids are all after their drugs, and everything, and pick up anything they can," said Don Cordle.
To prevent this kind of theft, police advise storing valuable things inside if you can. To recover stolen items, they say it helps to record serial numbers.
