West Liberty
University will release its West
Virginia jobs and education report at 10 a.m. Feb. 18 at the university's Highland
Center campus, the university
recently announced.
According to the university's news release, the study
compares the anticipated job market with the college degrees awarded by
post-secondary institutions in the state.
The purpose, the news release continues, is to analyze the
ability of post-secondary institutions to meet the demands of the labor market.
Although high unemployment persists around the state and
nation has signaled a worsening labor market, certain occupations are expected
to experience above average job growth.
The study documents further labor market needs for the state
by estimating labor shortage and surplus per occupation. Data for occupations
with the largest job growth from 2010 to 2020 were obtained from the U.S.
Department of Labor and Workforce West Virginia, the news release states.
The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission provided
data of degrees conferred for the West Virginia Higher Education Institutions between
2007-2012.
