Five people face drug charges after a false robbery report leads police to a drug bust.

Sunday night two men approached an Huntington police officer at the 20th Street viaduct where traffic was stopped due to a truck stuck in the underpass.

They said a man had showed a gun and robbed them of $500 and fled with two others in a black pickup truck around 9 p.m..

Hurricane police spotted a truck matching the description on I-64 and as they pursued, they saw the suspects trying to throw something out the window.

When State Police got on scene, they found a half-pound of marijuana in the truck, but no weapon.

The suspects said they stole the pot from the other men in Huntington after they left it on the table.

State Police say the suspects went to the house in Huntington to buy a small amount of pot, and when Neal Richardson, the resident, went upstairs, they stole it and fled.

Police say that's when Richardson and his friend made the false report of being robbed.

State Troopers returned the marijuana to HPD and, along with the drug task force, went inside the house at 541 22nd street finding 18 grams of pot and 11 Lortab pain pills.

Police say Richardson admitted to the whole thing.@

Neal Richardson, and Kevin Maynard are both charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

The three suspects arrested in Hurricane, Karson Williams, Jacob Brown, and James Flint, are also charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and are in Western Regional jail.

Hurricane Police, West Virginia State Police, Huntington Police, and Barboursville Police all contributed to the arrests.
