Huntington fire temporarily closes 3rd avenue

Posted: Updated:

An apartment fire at Third Avenue and 29th Street had traffic rerouted for firefighters Monday night.

The resident of the apartment said he was using his oven for extra heat and when he smelled smoke, he saw the entire kitchen was on fire.

The man ran out and called 911.

Huntington firefighters knocked the fire down quickly to keep it from spreading to nearby homes.

The resident says he has no where to go and most all of his belongings are gone and his daughters presents are ruined.

No one was injured.
