The Charleston Police Department recognized individuals on Wednesday from the Charleston area who have dedicated their lives to serving others.
That included Coston Davis Jr., Paul Sheridan, Thomas Tolliver Sr. and Special Agent Ronald Layton.
It was part of Black History month events in the city.
Organizers said these people inspired others to do more for the community. Even the officers said they were inspired. "They really inspire me to just get out there and want to do more. Because of the work that they have done. They have given their time, they have sacrificed, they have given themselves, their hearts, their passion. Each of us no matter what it is can make a difference out in the community," said Cpl. Errol Randle with the Charleston Police Department.
This was the fourth Celebration of Black History ceremony in Charleston.
