Fitness trainer says classes can get you back into working out

If you've thought about changing your health habits, one YMCA instructor said classes are a great start to getting back in the gym.

"If people are thinking about starting to workout, classes are they a good idea?" I asked.

"They are a great idea, it's a great social network, you get the group support and accountability from your other members, it's just an easy way to get started," said YMCA instructor Deborah Sizemore.

Sizemore said workout classes are great for people of all ages.

"It's from all levels and all ages, from the very young, 12 and up, until, there is no age limit."

She said classes run around an hour each.

"They run about an hour, sometimes a little over depending on the instructor."

Sizemore said you can drop weight and tone your body by doing various workout classes.

"Absolutely, you're punching you're kicking, you're engaging your abs, your whole core, your low back," said Sizemore.

Sizemore said classes can be a great way to start working out because you are surrounded by support.

"You can absolutely do it with your friends and you can have fun back there."

She also said you workout classes are good for switching up your workouts.

"The great thing about Turbo Kick is it incorporates a little bit of everything, a little Tai Chi, a little Muay Thai, a little kick boxing, a little dance shadowboxing with athletic drills, and abs and toning."

Classes offered the YMCA of Kanawha Valley include Zumba, Spin and Kickboxing.
