Lincoln and Wirt County voters to decide education issues on Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Voters will head to the polls Saturday, Feb. 23, to vote on school-related measures.

A school construction bond vote is scheduled in Lincoln County. In Wirt County, voters will decide a school levy.

The Lincoln County plan calls for a $24 million bond. If approved, it would be combined with $17 million from the state School Building Authority to finance the construction of a new Midway-Duval Elementary and a new Guyan Valley school.

Wirt County school board members have said if the levy fails again on Saturday, the county will have to cut its operating budget by 25 percent.

Polls open in both counties at 6:30 in the morning and will close at 7:30 in the evening.
