SPENCER -
The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's office is investigating a fire that started on High Street in Spencer Saturday evening, burning two homes and causing exterior damage to at least two others nearby.
The fire started in one house and then spread to the one beside it. Other homes had some melted siding and other exterior damage.
Mary L. Hardman spent her Sunday sifting through what was left of her belongings after flames from her neighbor's property ripped through her home.
Most of the damage was in the living room area. The entire upstairs of her home was also destroyed.
Hardman's family is helping her sort through her clothing and other items. She is currently looking for a storage area and a new home that she may be able to rent in the Spencer area.
Hardman said she has lived on High Street for seven years.
