Dunbar Ave. reopens after hit-and-run crash lands power pole on SUV in Kanawha county

Dunbar Avenue reopened to traffic on Monday evening after a bad crash earlier in the afternoon.

It happened near the intersection of 12th Street and Dunbar Avenue about at 3:30 p.m.

An elderly driver lost control of her Jeep and crashed into a power pole, according to police at the scene. The impact snapped the pole in half. Part of the pole was dangling in the air from the lines above. The other half crashed into the top of the SUV.

The elderly woman was transported to Thomas Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash. A second vehicle reportedly clipped the Jeep, causing the driver to lose control and hit the pole. That driver left the scene and officers are trying to find that person.
