UPDATE: Road reopened after power outage

The road reopened by 6 p.m.


According to the Kanawha County Schools, the power outage and road closure in the Cabin Creek area will force all student for Sharon Dawes Elementary, East Bank Middle School and Riverside High School living past the Pullensville area will be sheltered at Sharon Dawes Elementary until the road can be re-opened. 

School buses will transport the students when the road is open.


According to dispatchers, a power pole has fallen in the 9500 block of Cabin Creek.

AEP workers are on the scene working to restore power to around 128 customers.

Workers estimate the problem will be fixed around 4:30 p.m.

Dispatchers are asking drivers to avoid the area while crews work to repair the pole and power lines.
