Although we're still very early in a legislative session devoted to revamping and upgrading our schools, the old guard has already raised their voice to protect the status quo. 

Both teachers unions have blasted a bill put forth by Gov. Tomblin that promises some bold changes to our educational system.

When the rhetoric is this ugly this early, it's hard to be hopeful.

Instead of hot air and posturing, we need to come together, get everyone at the table and develop a plan with one goal - to prepare our kids for life in the 21st Century.
