Dogs with an important job got a bit of training on Tuesday to help keeps their skills sharp.
Members of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department were taking their drug and explosive sniffing dogs through their once a year re-certification.
It's a way to keep the animals and their handlers up-to-date, according to the department. "If they're doing everything that they should be doing monthly. If they're doing what they're doing when they're working the roads, and this year we've had no problems. All of the dogs have performed as expected," said Sgt. Ron Mathis with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
The county has seven dogs. Of those, five are trained to sniff drugs and two are trained to detect explosives.
