Yeager Airport may face budget cuts from the FAA

Posted: Updated:

The Federal Aviation Administration has until April 7, 2013 to cut $700 million from their budget.

The budget cuts will most likely come to West Virginia through Yeager Airport in Charleston.

At Yeager Airport's monthly meeting to discuss agendas and budgets the FAA told the airport that they plan to install a frequency buzzer that would be controlled by pilots to turn on runway lights in the event of a night landing.

Installing the buzzer would eliminate the need for a 24-hour staff in the tower.  Officials from Yeager Airport said this will not affect employment at the airport.

The buzzer system would take anywhere from 30 to 60 days to install.
