BECKLEY, WV -

Mary Frances Hash has joined New River Community and Technical College as director of the medical assisting program.

She had directed the program at Mountain State University since 1995 and had served as faculty prior to being named director. She also served as lead facilitator for all medical assisting and medical coding and billing classes at MSU.

With the closing of Mountain State in December, New River entered into a teach-out agreement to allow MSU's medical assisting and medical coding students to continue their education at an accredited institution and complete their degree.

Hash graduated from Concord University with a bachelor's degree in business education comprehensive with medical, legal and administrative concentrations.

She earned a master's degree in business education with a specialization in adult, vocational and technical education from Marshall University. She also has completed course work toward a doctoral degree in education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction at WVU/Marshall University in South Charleston.
