CHARLESTON, WV -

The law firm Jackson Kelly has promoted to membership status four of its attorneys working in West Virginia: William C. Ballard and Erin R. Stankewicz, both of whom work in Charleston, and Wendy G. Adkins and Timothy R. Rounds, both of whom work in Morgantown.

Ballard is a member of the commercial law practice group, where he focuses on commercial bankruptcies. Before joining the firm, he served as a law clerk to two judges of the U.S. District Court in Southern West Virginia: David A. Faber and Thomas E. Johnston. 

He previously practiced commercial and tax litigation at a D.C. law firm and in Charleston. He serves on the bankruptcy committee of the West Virginia State Bar. He was president of the Kanawha County Bar Association for the 2008‑2009 term and was president of the Judge John A. Field Jr. American Inn of Court in 2010‑2011. 

He also is a member of Mountaineer Athletic Club and the University of North Carolina Educational Foundation. He graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor of science degree in economics. 

He earned his law degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Stankewicz is a member of the firm's industrial, environmental and complex litigation practice group and has extensive experience representing energy companies in mass tort cases as well as other complex litigation.

She earned her law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law in 2006. While in law school, she served as senior staff for the Business Law Journal and was a full-time student while maintaining full-time professional employment. 

She earned an associate degree in specialized business from the Western School of Health & Business Careers, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. In 2002, Stankewicz graduated magna cum laude from Point Park College with a bachelor of arts degree in legal studies.

She serves on the committee for the Jackson Kelly Education Elevators Program and volunteers at Piedmont Elementary in Charleston.

Adkins practices in the Jackson Kelly's industrial, environmental and complex litigation practice group and also is part of the firm's higher education industry group.

She joined the firm after finishing a two‑year federal clerkship with Judge Irene M. Keeley of West Virginia's Northern District. She also served was an associate in the litigation department of Huddleston Bolen in Huntington.

Adkins is a summa cum laude graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned her bachelor of science degree in journalism in 2000. She graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2003.

Rounds is a member of Jackson Kelly's land and natural resource development practice group. His practice includes a wide variety of real estate transactions, focusing on oil and gas property acquisitions, divestitures, lease negotiations, title examinations and curative work. He also has experience in land and legal due diligence associated with oil and gas transactions.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in political science and a bachelor of science degree in justice studies, both from Maryland's Frostburg State University. 

He earned his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 2005. He also worked for the prosecutor's office in Allegany County, Md.
