Rep. David McKinley, R-W.Va., wants to give back what he's not using.
McKinley issued a news release Feb. 28 saying he has returned more than $250,000 from his Congressional office budget to the U.S. Treasury throughout the past two years.
"Since coming to Congress in 2011, developing a lean and efficient operation has been a top priority," McKinley said in a news release. "That's how the private sector works and Washington should be no different."
McKinley said the operational budget for Congressional offices has been cut more than 11 percent since 2011, and it will be further cut in the coming months.
"Our office is operating with less, and we have still been able to return money," he said. "If hard working families have to do more with less in these tough times, then members of Congress ought to as well."
