REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (AP) - The state said officials won't release to the general public the types of animals being held at Ohio's new holding facility for exotic creatures.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture director said the state is just as concerned about making sure animals don't get out as making sure nobody gets in to access the animals.
Director David Daniels said local police and emergency first responders will be notified. He said it would be too difficult to make such notifications to neighbors.
Daniels allowed reporters to tour the facility in suburban Reynoldsburg east of Columbus on Thursday to help assure the public the facility is safe.
State veterinarian Tony Forshey emphasized the building is not a zoo but more along the lines of a temporary humane society facility.
