LATEST UPDATE: Man in custody after attempting to run over police officer in Kanawha County

One man is in custody after he attempted to flee from police and almost hit an officer.

According to the Charleston Police Dept., they arrested Mark Kennedy from Harts, WV, after a pursuit that began near the 35th Street Bridge exit on I-77 and ended near the Dunbar exit on I-64.

According to police, he attempted to run over a police officer during the pursuit. 

This all started at Chesapeake Medical Center after Kennedy got upset and was asked to leave the office.

According to the criminal complaint, he grabbed a female patient by the arm and also cracked their glass door.

Police also found marijuana, scales, multiple knives and a night stick in the vehicle. 

He is charged with battery, assault on an officer, destruction of property, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and fleeing with reckless indifference.

His bond was set at $75,000.
