NEW: Two arrests made in connection with Charleston's KRT Transit Mall beating

UPDATE:

The Charleston Police Dept. arrested two men in connection to the KRT Transit Mall beating.  Both arrests were the result of caller tips.

The first arrest came from a man who told police that he believed he was following a person who was involved in the beating on Shrewsbury Street in Charleston, WV.

Police responded to the call and arrested Brandon Douglass.

A second tip led police to Yeager Airport where they arrested Dana LaFond twenty minutes before he was scheduled to board a flight to Myrtle Beach.

Both men are being charged with malicious wounding and LaFond is also being charged with first degree robbery.


UPDATE:

According to the Charleston Police Dept., a tip led them to Yeager Airport where two detectives arrested Dana LaFond in the security area around 12:00 p.m.

LaFond had a one-way ticket to Myrtle Beach for a flight that boarded less than twenty minutes after he was arrested.

Another tip led police to the first suspect Brandon Douglass, but police have not released how they caught him.

Two people have been arrested in connection with a beating at the KRT Transit Mall.

Brandon Douglass and Dana LaFond have been arrested by the Charleston Police Dept.

According to Charleston Police, an arrest has been made in connection with the Transit Mall beating from earlier this week.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released.

A man was severely beaten in Charleston, WV on March, 4 around 8:00 p.m.

Brandon Cotley, 20, was the victim in the crime and is listed in critical condition.

According to police, Cotley was at the KRT Transit Mall when he was beaten with bricks and stomped.

Police are searching for suspects in the case.
