A Putnam County man was sentenced to a year and a half in federal prison for possession of a stolen firearm, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.
Robert Allen Armstrong, 25 of Hurricane, previously pleaded guilty in October 2012.
In July 2010, the Hurricane Police Department went to Armstrong's house to execute an arrest warrant.
During the incident, officers said they discovered that Armstrong possessed a stolen pistol. Court records show Armstrong admitted that he knew the pistol was stolen.
He was previously convicted of a felony in 2007 and is not allowed to own a gun, authorities said.
