CHARLESTON -

Hayden Rogers is U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin's new chief of staff. Manchin announced Rogers' appointment Monday.

Rogers served as chief of staff for former U.S. Rep. Rep. Heath Shuler, D-N.C. He unsuccessfully ran for Shuler's seat in 2012. 

Shuler decided not to run for a fifth term after Republican lawmakers redrew North Carolina's 11th District to bring in more likely GOP voters.
