A man has been charged with attempted murder after police said he stabbed his father in the neck.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. inside of an apartment on Franklin Avenue on Friday.

Charleston Police said Drew Ornbaun, 24, stabbed his father, Tom Ornbaun, 60, in the neck.

The victim was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center but is expected to survive, police said.

The suspect has been charged with attempted murder.

Drew Ornbaun has a violent criminal history, according to court records.

He has violent charges dating back to 2008, including battery on a police officer and domestic battery against his brother.

During his arraignment, Ornbaun accused his family of 'trying to kill him'.

Neighbors told 13 News Ornbaun is a trouble man.  They said they hope this is the last time cop cars show up to this apartment because of his actions.

Ornbaun was taken to South Central Regional Jail.

His bail has been set at $10,000 cash only.
