Charleston Sky Lounge shooting suspect heading to prison

Posted: Updated:

The man who shot three people at a popular Charleston nightclub has been sentenced to prison.

Judge Jennifer Bailey sentenced Braheem Griffin to up to 30 years in prison for his role in the shooting.

Griffin shot three people at the Sky Lounge bar, two inside and one outside, in September.

The shooting stemmed from an altercation several weeks prior.

Griffin previously pleaded guilty to three counts of malicious wounding in January.

The shooting was enough for the Alcohol Beverage Control Administration to suspend the club's liquor license.

The club never reopened.

Griffin will serve his sentence concurrently with a drug possession charge he got in 2012.

Griffin apologized to the court, victims, and his family before the judge sentenced him.
