NEW:

Police have arrested a man they believe pulled the trigger in a shooting in the 1600 block of Washington Street West in Charleston on Saturday, March 9.

Robert Jared Smith is in police custody. He was convicted in U.S. Federal Court in November 2000 for conspiracy to distribute cocaine base as well as aiding and abetting to distribute cocaine base, according to Charleston Police.  His original sentence was for life in prison which was later reduced to about 405 months.  He had been released and was under federal supervision when the March 9 shooting occurred.

During the shooting investigation, police said they discovered that a number of people were patronizing a Korean restaurant on Washington Street West. The initial investigation discovered that two victims were shot in their leg while outside of the restaurant. At least three guns were fired.  Police said about 60 bullets were expended.

Andre "A3" Williamson, told police that as he was approaching the front door of the Korean restaurant, Smith approached him. He said that Smith pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband then fired the handgun directly at Williamson, striking him one time in the upper left thigh.  This action provoked numerous other gunfire.

This incident is believed to be in retaliation for a shooting that occurred in the unit block of Capitol Street in September 2012, as well as the murder of David Booker on the east end of Charleston, in October 2012.

NEW:

The victim in a weekend drive-by shooting in Charleston is now facing charges of his own.

Charleston Police said Andre Williamson was recovering at Charleston Area Medical Center after he and a woman were both shot in the leg outside of the Seoul of Charleston.

Police arrested Williamson when he was released from the hospital on Monday afternoon, in connection with the 2012 death of David Booker.

He's charged with first degree robbery and accessory after the fact to voluntary manslaughter.

Williamson's bond was set at $50,000 and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19.

Police said they're also looking into whether the most recent shooting over the weekend is connected to two other shoot-outs.

ORIGINAL:

Charleston Police are still looking for the person who opened fire on Washington Street West over the weekend.

Police said two people were shot in the incident.

The shooting comes just days after a similar incident that happened late last week, where police found dozens of shell casings near Fourth and Florida Streets.

Early Saturday morning, police said Andre Williamson was standing in front of Seoul of Charleston when a person opened fire, hitting Williamson and another woman in the leg.

Williamson has a long criminal history.  He is facing charged related to the shooting death of David Booker once he is released from the hospital, police said.

Booker was found dead in an East End alleyway last year.

Investigators found dozens of shell casings in the surrounding area to the restaurant and said it's amazing no one else was injured.
