A Weirton man recently pleaded guilty sale of stolen goods transported by interstate after he obtained more than 6,300 pounds of stolen copper wire and transported it to Pennsylvania.

Federal prosecutors say Danny Lee Cook, 48, transported the copper wire — which was stolen from Mon Power's Wylie Ridge substation — and sold it to a scrap metal dealer, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld.

Cook, who appeared in federal court March 6, is free on bond pending sentencing and could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
