Marshall graduate assistant arrested, facing child porn charges

HUNTINGTON, Wv. -

A graphic and detailed criminal complaint alleges 28-year-old Jacob Wolfe downloaded a video of a four-year-old, and another of an eight to ten-year-old engaging in sexual acts.

Word spread quickly through the twittersphere about Wolfe, a graduate assistant, who also taught a class in experimental psychology, just after his arrest.

Wolfe is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, and could face up to four years in prison, if convicted.

"I was like oh wow, that was my teacher," says, Makenzie Hesson, a shocked former student of Wolfe's. "I was really surprised. When I saw the picture... ...because I had heard about it, and I didn't know who it was, and when I figured out it was him, I was really surprised. I never would have thought that."

Students say he was giving an exam in experimental psychology in Room #303 at Harris Hall when he was arrested.

Rachel Jepsen is also a graduate assistant in the psychology department.

She's surprised, she says, because Wolfe was a good teacher and a good guy.

"He's really helpful if they have any questions," says Jepsen. "I would not imagine that of him. He just doesn't seem like.. ...I don't know. That seems really strange."

Police believe Wolfe downloaded the videos in late May and early June of last year, while using a peer-to-peer network.

According to the complaint, they tracked downloaded associated with Wolfe's IP address.

Wolfe remains in the Western Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.

A hearing is scheduled in Cabell County for March 22nd.
