Being a firefighter is a dangerous job. Which is why this week firefighters from across the state are in Charleston for some specific training. Wednesday they received some intense training on how to save each other from a fire.
The firefighters are all training instructors at their home departments. So they are planning to take the knowledge and share it with others.
Wednesday they were at Chamberlain Court on the east end. The building was filled with smoke and firefighters went inside in groups to try to retrieve a simulated fallen firefighter. The mannequin was in the basement and they had to get through an elaborate set of obstacles to get to the location.
Firefighters from Indianapolis helped lead the training.
More activities are planned through Friday.
