BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) - A high school band director in western Ohio has pleaded not guilty to sex charges involving two female students.
The Bellefontaine Examiner reports that 34-year-old John Shook, of DeGraff, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in Bellefontaine to single counts of rape and attempted sexual battery, five counts of sexual battery and three counts of gross sexual imposition. The indictment alleges the Riverside High School band director repeatedly engaged in sexual conduct with one girl and had sexual contact with another.
The Logan County sheriff's office says Shook posted $25,000 bail and was released Wednesday.
Shook's attorney did not immediately return a call to her office. There was no published telephone listing for Shook.
Shook has been on paid non-disciplinary leave from the school in DeGraff since Feb. 4.
