Jesus portrait moves to new location

Posted: Updated:

A portrait of Jesus Christ has been removed from the main hallway of Jackson Middle School, and put in a new location at Jackson High School.

Jackson City Schools Superintendent, Phil Howard says the school board voted to designate an area of the high school to display gifts that alumni and community members have donated.

The decision to move the portrait comes after the ACLU filed a lawsuit, claiming the portrait's display is violation of religious freedom, which is guaranteed by the constitution.

Howard says the decision was made because the club who originally donated the painting decades ago, asked for it to be put in the designated area of the high school.
