Friends and strangers help woman stranded by flood waters

South Point, OH -

High water covered some roadways in South Point, Ohio following relentless rain Monday. Little Solida was one of the roads that was covered in rushing flood water.

Amber Bartrum was on her way to pick up her friend Pam Littlejohn when she discovered her car wouldn't make it through. Littlejohn has leukemia and needed to get to an appointment with her doctor. Bartrum started asking other motorists with trucks to help her.

She finally found Randy Robinson. He lives in the area and was planning to drive through anyway.

"She is sick," Bartrum said about her friend. "She is in her last stages of cancer and I am trying to take her to the doctor and obviously we are in a big flood here."

Bartrum rode with him to Littlejohn's home and picked her up. Robinson then drove them back through the high water to Bartrum's vehicle.

It is never a good idea to drive or walk through high water. It is best to turn around.
