NEW:

The University of Charleston received what they believed to be a credible threat and locked down the campus until police could clear the scene.

The school took the threat seriously and waited until police told them the threat was not credible before telling students and teachers the campus was clear.

The school has not released the nature of the threat.  No injuries were reported.

The University of Charleston was placed on lock down after a threat was made at their Kanawha City campus.

Charleston police have the situation under control and have given the all-clear to the campus.

The University of Charleston tweeted, "There was a threat made on UC's campus.  Chas. Police have situation under control.  Please stay in res [sic] hall or office until further notice," around 4:19 p.m.
