A federal grant will help Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College develop mining education programs.
Nearly $900,000 will be used to fund the Comprehensive Career Pathways and Programs in Coal Mining Project. The money will be distributed over three years.
Through this project students will learn how to meet the needs of the mining industry. They'll learn about electrical engineering technology, mine management, mine technology and mining engineering.
The money was provided by the National Science Foundation through the Division of Undergraduate Education.
