Hundreds of people from Connecticut to Florida reported seeing a brilliant streak of light shoot across the sky Friday night

There were some reports that it crashed to the ground near the Maryland-Delaware state line but those reports are still unconfirmed.

The fireball was spotted about 8 p.m. by people driving, walking their dogs or just happening to glance out the window. Those who saw it say . glowed green, bright, fast, close and "scary."

According to the American Meteor Society, fireballs are very bright meteors, about as bright as Venus in the morning and evening skies.
