Huntington city council approves junk ordinance

Posted: Updated:

Huntington city council voted to approve an ordinance that prohibits junk and garbage in the city limits.

The ordinance is part of Mayor Steve Williams' plan to bring the city to a state of excellence.

Council members say anyone who has junk and trash on their property and wants it removed can call their city councilperson, or the Mayor's office to have it taken away.

Council urges people who have neighbors that can't help themselves to lend them a helping hand in keeping the city clean.

They say people who refuse to clean up their property will be warned and could face a fine up to $500.
