BUCKHANNON, WV -

Boyd Creasman, professor of English and director of West Virginia Wesleyan College's School of Fine Arts and Humanities on July 1 will take on his new role as the college's vice president for academic affairs.

In July, Melody Meadows will assume the role of director of the School of Fine Arts and Humanities.

Creasman previously served as chairman of the English department, director of general studies, director of first-year seminar and co-chair of the retention committee.

In his new position, Creasman will oversee leadership for academics, from recruiting and retaining faculty to reviewing academic programs.

He currently supervises faculty, directs the assessment program and coordinates course development offerings with the School of Fine Arts and Humanities, a position he has held since 2010.

Creasman received both a master's degree and his Ph.D. from Florida State University. He has a bachelor's degree in English from Middle Tennessee State University. He began his tenure at West Virginia Wesleyan in 1990.

Active in efforts to internationalize West Virginia Wesleyan's campus, Meadows has twice represented Wesleyan at the Salzburg Global Seminar, securing global connections that allowed her to host an expert on sustainable development for the benefit of students studying development issues and Arabic language and culture.

Meadows has served as a visiting professor at Duksung University in Seoul, Korea, as well as leading students during an international studies trip. She also has served as the interim director of education for Ons Plek Projects in Cape Town, South Africa, where she traveled during last year's May term. In March, she was a representative to the 57th Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations.

Her connection with the Clay Foundation as a clinician for Yamaha Corp. led to more than $338,000 in grants and matching monies being awarded to the college, as well as six area county music programs.

Meadows is professor of organ and music theory at the college. She has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Korea, with her most recent performances at Yale University.

Meadows holds a master's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a doctorate degree in organ performance from the University of Michigan and is director of music at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins.
