    West Virginia State University has selected Kumara L. Jayasuriya as provost and vice president for academic affairs following a nationwide search. His appointment takes effect July 1.

BUCKHANNON, WV -

Charles Powell III has been appointed as the new advancement officer at West Virginia Wesleyan. He earned a bachelor of science in business administration from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2010.

He returns to Wesleyan after three years with the Sherwin-Williams Co. Since late 2011, he had served as a market manager for the company in London, Ohio.

During his undergrad years at Wesleyan, he served as the president of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Under his leadership, the group was awarded the President's Cup for the best overall performance in academics, philanthropy and recruitment by a Greek fraternity.

In his role as the advancement officer, Powell will travel extensively and visit alumni and friends to build connections and support for the college.
