An overnight prostitution sting nets three arrests in Charleston.

The undercover investigation was made up of members from the Special Enforcement Unit and Criminal Investigation Division of the Charleston Police Department.

Investigators arrested Carol Sue Bailes, 42, of Saint Albans, Christina McKinney, 34, of Dunbar, and Lorrae Church, 36, of Akron, Ohio.

The woman have been charged with solicitation of prostitution, a misdemeanor. Officers said they also found meth on Bailes.

Investigators set up the sting at an undisclosed hotel on the East End of Charleston late Thursday night.

Sgt. Bobby Eggleton is in charge of the SEU Division. He said the women were soliciting sex for money on websites like Craigslist and Backpage.

The women were arrested after they met undercover officers at a hotel room at the undisclosed location.

The rooms were wired and under surveillance at the time.

Investigators tell 13News that prostitution has always been an issue in big cities, including Charleston.

Officers can average two prostitution arrests per night in areas like Washington Street West and the East End area of Charleston, they said.

The SEU handles street crimes like drug activity and prostitution. This undercover operation was the result of tips from the community.

Sgt. Eggleton said illegal activities, like prostitution, won't be tolerated in the city limits.  To report criminal activity to members of the SEU, call 304-348-0530.

The women were taken to South Central Regional Jail and were arraigned between Thursday night and Friday afternoon.

The women could face up to 30 days in jail on prostitution charges. They will appear before a judge in May.
