Fight erupts during house fire; Olive Hill man charged with assault

Two men began fighting during a fire Sunday in Olive Hill. 

Kentucky State Police in Carter County told 13 News Johnny Canterbury, 27, of Greenbrier Road, was charged with second degree assault after he injured Curtis Sloan during an argument. 

The fight happened at the same time the Olive Hill firefighters were on the scene of a house fire. Witnesses said the two men started to argue over the fire when it got physical. 

Sloan was taken to St. Claire Medical Center. His injuries were to his face and head and were not life-threatening. 

The cause of the structure fire is currently under investigation. 

Canterbury was taken to the Carter County Detention Center.
