CHESTER (AP) -

MTR Gaming Group President and CEO Jeffrey Dahl plans to leave the company to pursue other business opportunities.

Chester-based MTR Gaming announced Tuesday that Dahl's resignation from the company's Board of Directors is effective immediately. But Dahl will remain as president and chief executive officer while the board searches for a successor.

Dahl says in a news release that he's proud of the company's progress during his tenure, including the opening of its Scioto Downs gaming facility in Columbus, Ohio.

MTR Gaming also owns Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort in Chester and Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Erie, Pa.
