One man taken to hospital after boulder hits car

UPDATE

One man was taken to the hospital after a boulder from a rock slide crushed his car. 

Officers with the Coal Grove Police Department tell 13News one of the boulders from the rock slide crushed the roof and windshield of a car sending one man to the hospital. 

The officers told us he was taken to King's Daughters' Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., with minor injuries. 

The rock slide happened Thursday morning, affecting the westbound lanes of US 52 in Lawrence County, near the Ashland bridge. 

Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation released another advisory at 11:45 a.m. stating both lanes are back open but to use caution because crews will be there cleaning up the debris, repairing the road and resetting the barrier.

Traffic is moving slow in the westbound lanes of US 52 in Lawrence County, near the Ashland Bridge, due to a rock slide. 

The rock slide happened Thursday morning. Only one lane is open. There are crews there cleaning up the scene and it may take them until the afternoon to get it clear, according to a release from the Ohio Department of Transportation. 

No word on any injuries. 

The Coal Grove Police is handling the situation.
