A miner was injured early April 4 at Arch Coal's Tygart Valley's Leer Mine in Taylor County.

The miner, who has not been identified, was knocked into a roof bolting machine, according to Amy Louviere at the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration.

He was flown by helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. X-rays indicated the man had no broken bones, Louviere said, and his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

"We are actively investigating the incident," said Arch Coal spokesperson Kim Link. "This is the first reportable safety incident at Leer mine in 260 days."
