Truck loses control on Rt. 119 in Logan County

Posted: Updated:

The driver of a 10-wheeler involved in an accident has been cited for failure to maintain control of his vehicle, according to Logan County Sheriff Sonya Dingess Porter.

The accident happened just after 5:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Deputies said William Christian lost control of his truck and went straight through the guardrail on Route 119 near Old Logan Road in Logan County.

The truck spewed diesel fuel and oil on both sides of the highways.

At one point, both north and southbound lanes were shut down.

Chapmanville and Henlawson Volunteer Fire Departments joined forces with the Division of Highways to get the highway reopened as soon as possible.

The hazmat team also had to come out and clean up the diesel fuel and oil.

The DOH plans to fix the guardrail over the weekend, so drivers can expect some more minor delays.

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
