    Commercial growth in Barboursville has allowed for improved services, and now village officials plan to build on the village's role in recreational opportunities in the region.

The annual Coonskin Park Fishing Rodeo for youth ages 3 to 10 years will take place on Saturday, April 13 in Charleston.

The Fishing Rodeo will be held rain or shine in Hersher Lake adjacent to Coonskin Park Family Center .

Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the Family Center and the competition runs from 9 a.m. through noon.

The competition is open to holders of class Q fishing permits, and competitors must be accompanied by adults. Anglers must bring their own bait and equipment, including one rod with a single hook. Minnows are not permitted

This event is sponsored by Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
