Stress is a daily factor in many people's lives. Too much stress can be bad for your health. That is why The Health Resource Network has named April Stress Awareness Month.
A variety of things can prompt feelings of stress throughout the day like phone calls, emails, traffic and a growing list of things to do. Pressures of work and family can also be difficult to handle.
"I am up at 6 a.m. and getting the kids to school," said Monteia Childers, owner of Monteia's Academy of Performing Arts in Scott Depot. "The I burn music, run the business and then go teach until late at night."
Most people are already aware that life can be stressful and that they need to take time to stop and smell the roses. But even finding time to relax can be difficult.
Tony Centofanti is in sales and likes to work out at the YMCA in Charleston during the work day to help take the edge off.
"I've been working all morning and have been on the phone talking to my customers," Centofanti said while getting ready for a kettlebell class. "Right now I need to just forget about that for a while."
