NEW:

Firefighters are calling a Wednesday fire on Charleston's East End suspicious.

It started in a house on Jackson Street that had been turned into several apartments.

Firefighters were alerted by police that there could be a possible meth lab inside, but they were not about to find any evidence of a lab on Wednesday evening. Neighbors said the apartments have been a nuisance for years.

The Charleston Fire Department is investigating.
